And it's over. Thank you everyone who came out, everyone who raced, everyone who volunteered, everyone who gave a damn. We had a great time and we hope all of you did too.

We're working on getting galleries up and, eventually, video. In the mean time if you shot stuff at the race you can add it to our flickr group and if you tag your photos from the weekend on flickr with chicagonaccc they'll come up in one of the galleries we're setting up here.

Word to your mom. It's Messenger Prom.

The 4th annual Chicago Messenger Prom (brought to you by PBR, 4 Star Courier Collective, and Chrome) will be held in conjunction with the NACCC. Hell. Yes.

This years Prom will be held Saturday August 30th at the Bottom Lounge - 1375 W Lake (Lake east of Ashland) from 8pm - 2 am

Free entry to registered racers, volunteers, and sponsors. Non-participants, same as always, $15 solo/$20 per couple, dress to impress. That means suits, ties, sexy dresses, bike caps and giant banana costumes.

Take a gander at some of last year's hi-jinks here.

Couple of updates. First off the NACCC now has a MySpace page for lurkin' yo' ass. Friend us up, 'cause it's easier to put updates and announcements on that shit than it is here. http://www.myspace.com/chicagonaccc.

Next up, we have launched the Chicago NACCC online store. Little slim on stuff at the moment, but we'll have shirts, hats, posters and patches up and available in the next week. The store will stay up after the event, so when your dumb ass gets home and realizes you didn't swag it up proper you get a second chance.

Our buddies over at Chicago Bike Polo have their site up and running for the NACCC Polo Tournament. The Polo Tournament is separate from the main race (although held in conjunction) and to register for that you need to take a trip over to their site. Repeat: To register for the Polo Tournament you need to go here.

We're going to be having more information regarding housing, volunteer opportunities and side event details coming shortly, so check back. Also, just to get it out there and clear up any confusion, everyone is welcome to participate in the race. Non-Messengers are encouraged to compete, and will be placed in their own category for ranking and prizes.

Oh yeah. Bring a helmet and plan to wear it. You should already know this, but just in case...

More information about the Labor Forum going down Sunday is now available. The C-NACCC labor forum will be an open forum to discuss labor issues in the courier industry. All are welcome to attend. We are looking for someone from each city attending the NACCCs to give a brief talk about the state of the industry in their city. We are also looking for input on possible topics to be discussed during the forum such as:
    • The false classification of messengers as IC's and NICA
    • The impact and benefits of organizing into a BMA/Couriers Union
    • Raising our rates/surviving in an economy that is headed into recession
    • Small, independents vs. the big corporate companies
For more information or to be part of organizing the forum contact Ben Fietz at kenolaben@gmail.com.
Download a copy of the flyer for the Labor Forum

And just to remind you, The North American Cycle Courier Championships will be held Labor Day weekend, August 29th - September 1st 2008. So make sure to get your advance registration in before then natch.
